IBPI started on wikipedia?

The referenced specification really does say that it was based on the wikipedia page of the time.

That suggests the "standard" was documentation of existing practice, which does happen.

It also suggests that wikipedia itself was the original source of the coordination, which was then lifted and blessed by a standards organization. That is sufficiently interesting (and unusual?) that it deserves a history section if someone can find (or even knows) the actual history. JimJJewett (talk) 17:26, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
