References - Contesting Prod[edit]

I found an article in the NJ Star-Ledger, but it's behind a pay-wall[1]. I found a copy of it (I assume) at a ham radio site, but being rehosted and, it looks like, reformatted, by them is less than perfect. Copy of article on page 8 of pdf There's also an article in RadCom which is a hobby/society magazine in the UK, not sure if that's sufficiently removed to be third party (they aren't the organisers, but I think the organising club is part of the RSGB, so it's a bit incestuous. Article here in the Chinook Observer (Long Beach, WA) (again, its a pay site). Also covered the following year in the same paper. This item in the Liverpool Echo is yet again behind a pay wall, but the extract quoted on the previous page was "It is the extra events such as the International Lighthouse & Lightship weekend in August and the National Heritage weekend in September which add spice ...". And finally an article in the Charlotte Sun-Herald. I think those are enough for us to at least go to AfD. I'll contest the prod and try to add some of these to the article. For information, the ILLW is sponsored by the Ayr Amateur Radio Group in Scotland and it was 2 of that club's members who started the event back in the mid nineties. The organiser and webmaster of the event is me, Kevin VK2CE, an Australian amateur. I have been involved with the event since 1998 as an entrant and since 2000 as an organiser and web master. This article is advertising[edit]

The response to my recommendation for deletion was swift as it should be; Thanks to the author for your timely attempt to rectify the issue. The wording changes did not change the fact this article is still merely an advertising vehicle for an event and seems to be simply a machine for generating back links to a web site. OK fair enough, I can accept your decision without rancour. However, I should point out that the other organisation which was mentioned in this article previously, the Amateur Radio Lighthouse Society (ARLHS), also has a page in this media. It is a commercial operation owned and run by a publishing company in the USA. If my ILLW article is considered to be advertising then I suggest the ARLHS page is also and should be deleted for the sake of consistency. The page has been the victim of vandalism from our opposition with a similar event earlier in August. The pepetrator K2JXW was warned against further interference with this page but I believe he now uses different user names. He is the person who changes the weekend from third to first and also the web site reference from illw.net to illw.uk.co or illw.org. First vs. Third Weekend[edit]

The correct date is the 3rd full weekend. The hijacked event is the first weekend. The hijacker is Mr JX Weidner founder of the ARLHS which has a copy cat event on the first weekend. He is the person who keeps changing my web details on here. Wow vk2ce, you respond quickly. This is much appreciated. Hijacked? I see. The wikipedian "QuiteUnusual" seems to be helping out quite a bit. At least there is one new independent source listed. This is great. The more the merrier. I agree on the notion to delete this article if is continues to pop back and forth between arguing entities let alone the remaining issues noted at the top of the article.
