Conservative projections[edit]

Concept?[edit]

Maybe the concept "the red brick wall" could be somewhere mentioned? It is unavoidable that some day either technical or commercial forces slow down the pace of progression in the semiconductor industry. (As far as I know, but I am not an expert it is estimated within some 10 - 20 years).

How did tech roadmaps come to be?[edit]

I came here curious why the ITRS exists -- whose interest it's in to put these roadmaps together. I still don't really know. It seems like a lot of effort goes into the projections, and I can imagine Intel, AMD, etc. wanting to keep a lot of information about their plans/future chip processes secret (but maybe it's all stuff that any interested EE student already knows). Was NTRS started by the U.S. government to foster smaller semiconductor firms? Is this to allow more efficient coordination with suppliers/customers? (I should go research and add it, I know.) Is rebootComputing applicable[edit]

Article mentions the IEEE Rebooting Computing but it seems focused on attracting computer science students rather than a technology roadmap so should it be deleted or its relevance to this article clarified ? - Rod57 (talk) 11:14, 16 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
