Just to note a change was made to one of the TOC templates and it's slightly messed up the layout (for now). I've dropped a note on the talkpage of the editor who made the change. Hopefully back to normal soon! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 09:33, 7 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Associate Cricket

[edit]

Should T20I tournaments played between Associates be added here or not? They all now have international status with records and stats being added to official stats on cricinfo. Discussion please!! Case in point: 2017–18 United Arab Emirates Tri-Nation Series was added to that particular season's page despite being played between Associate countries. --Ankurc.17 (talk) 08:02, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. This was already discussed last year at WT:CRIC. WP:CRIC#STYLE has been updated to reflect that they should not be added (for both men and women's tournaments/series), except those that are a World T20 (men or women), Global Qualifier (men or women) or Regional Final (men only). All of those teams in the UAE tri-series already had T20I status before the ICC changed it to all teams. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:05, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
And here is the discussion where it was agreed not to include them. This was at the talkpage of the Cricket Project, which I know you view/edit, so it was not behind "closed doors" as you claimed earlier. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:13, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Just to clarify, this refers to all Associate teams who were given T20I/WT20I status by the ICC after June last year. So the likes of Botswana, the Maldives, Qatar, China, etc, who did not have T20I status prior to this date. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:34, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
So Wikipedia is gonna function like a corportae site and be no more home for everything that goes around... Thanks & Good Bye for ever... Please start updating the grounds page now... I was doing it for more than a year... But since my ideas and suggestions are not welcomed... I dont care about those pages as well --Ankurc.17 (talk) 08:51, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
And also stop naming page as a International... Its mis-leading....
Re-reading that discussion, I don't think it ever came to a conclusion as to inclusion of tournaments on pages like this. I started the discussions along those lines, but it quickly turned into a discussion on player notability based on playing in these games. There did seem to be a consensus to not grant notability to players based on these games, but nothing about to include the games on this page. I didn't notice at the times, but I don't think there was ever agreement to make this change. For what it is worth, I think the tournament at least should be listed at the top of this page. Thank you for your support... All i have been saying is that International cricket should be included on International Cricket page.. No need to add A tours or minor tours (still though WCL and such tournaments are added)... But this ACC tournament has all matches with International Status --Ankurc.17 (talk) 10:30, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
However, in that same discussion, under the section heading "Wording change" I posted "Happy for feedback on this, then leave it open for a while, before updating the guide. We can then apply this to tournaments for the international year articles, as per Spike's original query". It was then left open for just over two weeks with no objections raised. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 10:53, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You did propose the wording for the players, but nothing directly for these articles, so if I had been paying more attention at the time I should have raised it then. As the discussion mentioned, the change was made on a "try this and see how it goes" basis. Given the men's change only just happens, this seems to be the first challenge to it, so perhaps the inclusion of these competitions should be revisited separately to the player notability point? Spike 'em (talk) 11:12, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
So can the tournament be added? --Ankurc.17 (talk) 12:33, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
At this point, no. I guess you didn't mean your "Thanks & Good Bye for ever... " comment. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 12:39, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If I were you, I'd start a fresh discussion on WT:CRIC linking to this and the discussion posted by Lugnuts above to see what the consensus is. It is not for the 3 of us to decide by ourselves. Spike 'em (talk) 12:45, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
WT:CRIC#Associate_Cricket is up for discussion --Ankurc.17 (talk) 08:01, 24 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'd just like to reopen this and ask about consistency. I've noticed for example that the 2019 ACC Western Region T20 tournament is noted as an international tournament on the Template:International cricket in 2018–19 page, however isn't listed on this page, unless this has been missed by others. I may well have completely skimmed over the topic on the discussion page, in which case someone do kindly point out what I've missed. Joalhe1997 (talk) 20:34, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Good spot - probably added in good faith to the template, without the knowledge of the updated guidance. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 20:46, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Zimbabwe Tour of India

[edit]

Can it be removed? There has been no confirmation of the tour happening. --Ankurc.17 (talk) 16:45, 16 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Can you find any sources saying it has been cancelled? There are plenty saying it is meant to be happening and others saying it is in doubt, but I've not seen any saying it has been postponed / cancelled outright. Spike 'em (talk) 13:37, 18 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Reference. Though the dates mentioned are clashing with the IPL 2019. --Ankurc.17 (talk) 05:49, 19 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Another reference. This one mentions that the tour has been postponed. Though can't rely on it since it says India's tour of Zimbabwe and not the other way round. It also talks about a Afghanistan tour from 16 April. Ankurc.17 (talk) 06:09, 19 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Any consensus on this? --Ankurc.17 (talk) 10:39, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The section within the article mentions it being cancelled. I think leaving it in the table is ok, though maybe replace the numbers with a P for postponed? Spike 'em (talk) 11:47, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ankurc likes to WP:FORUMSHOP until he gets the answer he likes to hear. Postponed or cancelled? It was scheduled to take place, as was the 3rd Test between New Zealand and Bangladesh. Someone who clicks the link in the summary table will be taken to the detail further down the page. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 13:27, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
