okay I have added the little box on the side but uhm the Interstate 296 sign disappeared. I do not know why. If any kind soul would like to correct that for me please do so. BTW I will contact our map maker for the map which should take forever to get that long long route taken care of hehe. --Mihsfbstadium 17:12, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Merge?

Maybe this should be merged with U.S. Route 131. --NE2 01:33, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Nope, it shouldn't. Google Maps is now showing the number on their mapping software, and the merged version of the article was just very clunky. Imzadi1979 (talk) 20:27, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
Oh, and I just though of the better reason why it shouldn't be merged: part of I-296 isn't concurrent with US 131, and that section has two exits off it northbound (to EB I-96, to NB M-37). Imzadi 1979  18:49, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Interstate 296 through Grand Rapids MI following US 131 route.

Have traveled this section many times in the last 35 years, including just last week, (last week of 2014) and have NEVER seen a sign or any other mention of I-296. This seems like a totally erroneous article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.199.145.144 (talk) 02:15, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

forgive my hasty entry, perhaps it is because it is an "Unsigned Designation:? I missed that one. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.199.145.144 (talk) 02:20, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
@107.199.145.144: Considering that it the signage for I-296 came down in late December 1979, so it hasn't been signed in 35 years, that's why. The whole story on why I-296 hasn't been signed in 35 years is in the history section of the article. Imzadi 1979  08:00, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
