Jazz-funk?[edit]

"lyrics that are 'quite different from the rosy clichés of most jazz-funk'": does this mean that the album is jazz-funk? It comments only on the lyrics, and contrasts them with "most jazz-funk": at best, a major inference is required to get to 'this is a jazz-funk album'. That's not enough to justify putting "jazz-funk" in the infobox as a genre. Nice article? Yes. Jazz-funk? Evidence required. EddieHugh (talk) 21:28, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@EddieHugh: The Guardian article sourced is dedicated to contextualising Linx and Intuition, among other acts, in the rise of British jazz-funk. Not sure how else this would be represented in the article, but its very clear from reading it - in particular this line: "Most of the new British jazz-funk sounds like a fresher, livelier version of its American counterpart. But Linx are genuine innovators with a first album, Intuition, that is sharp, intelligent and surprising." - that the writer calls it jazz-funk, just different to other jazz-funk due to its livelier, fresher sound (and lyrics as in the quote in the article). If need be I can quote this in the article.--TangoTizerWolfstone (talk) 11:42, 15 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for replying – lots of people don't. If that's the whole context of the review, then your conclusion is reasonable. I'd probably look for more than one source to make adding yet another genre to an album/band article worthwhile/justified. But if it's just that one and it's to be included, then maybe pointing out explicitly, earlier in the sentence (or using a separate sentence), that the writer was comparing jazz-funk albums would be clearer for the reader here. No problem, I've added information about Harrow's jazz-funk observations in the Composition section.--TangoTizerWolfstone (talk) 15:03, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
