The administrative regions in the NWT do not include an Inuvik region, but rather, Inuvik is part of the Beaufort Delta region. Unless I'm completely off my rocker, and something else is meant... but it was fairly unclear. Yiwahikanak 05:58, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- The Beaufort Delta Region should redirect here as the NWT Government calls it the Inuvik Region (MACA) and the only references I could see to the Beaufort Delta Region seem a bit outdated. Also a search at the GNWT phone directory brings up no results for "Beaufort Delta Region" and 15 for "Inuvik Region". CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 08:16, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Alright, seems I've got things a bit confused. You see, there is a Beaufort Delta Divisional Education Council. All the other regions are exactly the same as the MACA divisions except this one, which is not the 'Inuvik' region, but the Beaufort-Delta region. There is also a Beaufort-Delta Health and Social Services Region, which once again, is the only region name that is different than the MACA names. For as long as I lived up north, it was the Beaufort-Delta Region. Any idea when this changed? Yiwahikanak 04:26, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
- Not sure. From the looks of the google links it appears to have changed sometime after division in 1999. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 07:31, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
Well, every time I learn something new, it seems I learn something new :D Yiwahikanak 19:23, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
Merge
[edit]I disagree with the merge suggestion. Inuvik Region, Northwest Territories is a census division and this is an administrative division. The Inuvik Region, Northwest Territories is larger and contains more communities than that of the administrative region. These include Colville Lake, Northwest Territories which is part of the Sahtu Region. Merging would also leave the Fort Smith Region, Northwest Territories as the only census division article in the NWT. I think it might cause confusion to the reader to have one article showing two completely different things. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 23:42, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- Then can the titles be distinguished in some way so that they don't look so much like duplicate articles? Bearcat (talk) 23:44, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- How about Inuvik Region, census geographic unit? I'm not really sure what would be best. By the way there is also Kitikmeot Region (admin), Kitikmeot Region, Nunavut (census) and Kitikmeot Region, Northwest Territories (pre-division). CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 23:50, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- Inuvik Region (census division) would probably be best, I think. Bearcat (talk) 20:33, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

- For consistency then would it be a good idea to move Fort Smith Region, Northwest Territories to Fort Smith Region (census division) as well? CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 23:51, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
