Conference championships[edit]

The team's last conference championship was in 1912. My source was the NCAA Football 2000 video game on Playstation, which quoted the stat. However, I am having difficulty finding a source online. [1] seems to be inadequate. Kenallen 17:33, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

CFBDataWarehouse.com lists 1912 as the year of ISU's last conference championship in football. ~ João Do Rio 05:36, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just as a note, Playstation's should not be used as a reference. The best place to go when looking for information is to the horses mouth as it were. The Big 12 media guides, the schools media guides are both good places to look. Both media guides, btw, show plainly that ISU won a divisional championship in 2004. Yes, ISU lost the head to head that would have sent them to the Big 12 Championship game, but the Big 12 doesn't separate co-divisional championships with outright divisional championships. If you take a look at Texas Tech wiki page, they also list a divisional championship even though it was a three way tie. Also, believe it or not, the Big 12 awards a trophy to all divisional champions regardless of whether they played in the championship game or not. For this reason, it is actually inaccurate not to list ISU's divisional championship. I would stand up for any other school (Kansas, Texas Tech, etc) who wants to list this as well.--Jaretac (talk) 16:58, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Iowa State New Logo.png[edit]

Image:Iowa State New Logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Logos and uniforms section[edit]

Why did somebody delete the new "Logos and uniforms" section? We are trying to make all of the NCAA Div I football wiki-pages consistent. If a particular team has more than one uniform combination, then that respective wiki-page will have a this new section added so that the uniform combination can be shown. The main uniform template at the top of the page is for a team's primary uniforms (including an alternate/throwback jersey). Uniform combinations that involve mixing and matching different color pants/jerseys are not alternates. Please do not delete this section again. Like I said, we are trying to make all Div I teams consistent. Thank you.

Hey Cyclones. I just want to give you a heads-up so you don't misunderstand. JohnnySeoul has no authority inside wikipedia and his opinion on what uniform images/configurations you decide to display on your page is nothing more than his opinion. He is attempting to provide a template for all football team uniforms (NFL, NCAA, etc), and, while I think it's a good idea, he doesn't really understand how wikipedia operates (and he somehow believes he has the right to create reversion battles in the name of matching his template across all relevant pages). If you disagree with his use of the template he will accuse you of making a "fan page". His understanding of what that is is rather dubious.
He's actually doing a useful service to many of these pages, but he fails to understand a fundamental aspect of wikipedia's functionality. That is, specifically, that everything isn't going to be just the way he wants it, because it's the way he wants it. If you don't like something that he did, just use his template and recolor it to make it accurate, or make a completely different one, or just delete it. Do what's best for the article and don't worry about his opinion. Cheers.--Elred (talk) 22:52, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
      • This was already cleared up earlier this month, Elred. Why are you continuing to insult me and the hard work/long hours a few of us have been doing for the past 2 years on yet another Wiki-page? You've got your pretty Texas Tech uniform pic on there.....it's over between you and me. You and me no longer exist. You've obviously taken this personal, so let me kindly ask you on the behalf of all of us that are working on these uniforms to please move on. Thank you.

Fair enough mate. Don't misunderstand me. I think you are doing good work. I just didn't like the tone you took in defense of your contributions. While they are a dramatic improvement to 95% of the pages you have worked on, on rare occasions a template is a downgrade. My point is, and has always been, that if someone wants to improve your template for the sake of accuracy, thoroughness, or presentation on an individual page they are absolutely free and encouraged to do so. Be well and keep up your good work.--Elred (talk) 22:43, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
        • This really is not the place for arguments, JohnnySeoul and myself have cleared the problem up and this disscusion is over.Jaretac (talk)

    • This gallery does satisfies Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria. No suitable alternative can be found, the rational for the use of the images are given on the image page, and it is appropriate. Further, the only place where galleries are not being allowed with non-free images, is on talk pages such as this.--Jaretac (talk) 14:26, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The section blatantly violates our non free content criteria. It is not needed and there is no critical commentary. Do not reinstate the images. Rettetast (talk) 14:55, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
