Censorship[edit]

This article is definitely censored. The uncensored version is here. It is fully Islamized (Taliban-ized) now. Holy mackerel!--2601:C4:C001:289E:9957:9065:F6EE:9381 (talk) 20:51, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Edit war[edit]

Despite all the snarling and snapping about the contents of this page, there has been zero discussion on the talk page. Very well. I have reverted to last stable version before the edit war began. Let the discussion begin. -- Dlohcierekim (talk) 21:12, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sub-article of 2017–18 Iranian protests[edit]

This anti-hijab protests article is a part of the 2017–18 Iranian protests article. One grievance of the people there in Iran is headscarf politics. I now see that the persistent censorship of headscarf politics from the "2017–18 Iranian protests" article resulted in the content to be forked into here.--2601:C4:C001:289E:9957:9065:F6EE:9381 (talk) 21:51, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A link to a DAB page[edit]

The article links to DAB page ISNA, instead of to Iranian Students News Agency. Could someone with editing rights correct the error, please? Narky Blert (talk) 18:26, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I cannot find it at all in the article. What sentence? -- Dlohcierekim (talk) 18:56, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It's #21 and #35 in the current References section.--2601:C4:C001:289E:9957:9065:F6EE:9381 (talk) 21:35, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks.  Done -- Dlohcierekim (talk) 22:00, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request moving[edit]

The name of the page is not correct. There are not only a woman (Vida Movahed) to protest. Many women replayed this action in Iran and there are know in Iran now as "دختران خیابان انقلاب" that meants Girl"s". GTVM92 (talk) 19:26, 15 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

GTVM92 see:

I can see "Girl of Enghelab Street" is more common for English authors, but see if you change it to "Girls" it doesn't make any sense to the head section, which we are referring to Vida Movahed, no one else, Vida Movahed was the one started it. Mjbmr (talk) 09:53, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

GTVM92 I'm gonna try to figure out to make head section better so we can rename it, but with current status I'm afraid it makes it ugly. Mjbmr (talk) 10:18, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
GTVM92 What about more like "2017–18 Iranian protests against compulsory hijab"? Mjbmr (talk) 10:46, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
GTVM92 I'm still ok with the title as I changed the head section a little bit, but the title needs more professional opinions. Mjbmr (talk) 10:58, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I came here to ask what the justification is for moving it to 'girls'. None of the sources (in Eng) appear to support the change. BTW ... the heavy reliance on Persian sources isn't helpful to readers, I don't know about all news outlets, but Radio Farda puts out its content in both Eng and Pers, so there is no advantage in using the Persian. Pincrete (talk) 18:39, 17 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Pincrete The articles describes at least 4 women protesters, I'd like to see "(protest)" added to the title but Emir thinks disambiguation it's not required. About the sources in Persian, I usually add first reliable source that came when I don't find any in English I add the Persian one, plus any English users can read Persian articles a little bit by the translation technologies, but actually I'm happy with you helping the article. Mjbmr (talk) 18:55, 17 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I know that there have been several sympathetic 'mirror' protests by other women subsequent to the original .... but that isn't the same as saying that sources are referring to 'girls of E. St'. The alternative to restoring the singular (who was the iconic first protester), is a descriptive title such as suggested above (Iranian protests against compulsory hijab). Pincrete (talk) 19:20, 17 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Either way we don't need "(protest)". Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 20:29, 17 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Pincrete I'm ok with "2017–18 Iranian protests against compulsory hijab", more encyclopedic. Mjbmr (talk) 04:32, 18 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Persecution example[edit]

In January 2018, a Chinese female musician was forcibly veiled in the middle of her concert performance. https://www.albawaba.com/loop/chinese-musician-humiliated-iran-hijab-imposed-mid-performance-1074470

I added the above line as an example of persecution of non-Muslims and violation of civil rights by the Islamist regime.--2601:C4:C001:289E:4DC3:27E6:4BBF:EB8F (talk) 11:46, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Paragraphs that appeared twice in the article[edit]

I have removed three short paragraphs because the appeared twice in the article. The first two paragraphs removed in this edit also appear in the 23 and 24 February sections. The third paragraph removed in this edit also appears in the 17 February section. Unless there is a very good reason why paragraphs must appear twice in the article, I expect that they will not be restored. Dr. K. 17:23, 26 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I see now that this is done on purpose by Mjbmr. I am asking @Mjbmr: to stop doing that because it is a form of WP:POV to repeat paragraphs twice. Dr. K. 17:40, 26 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Women protesting stadium ban[edit]

35 women were arrested for protesting stadium ban for women yesterday in front of azadi stadium. Should we include that in this page as it is also a movement for women's rights?

Sex segregation in Iran#Sport events is the place.--2601:C4:C001:289E:750E:5ACE:CDF8:5693 (talk) 21:06, 3 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality and bias[edit]

This page pretty much reads like Masih Alinejad's (an Iranian expatriate on US government payroll) anti-Hijab propaganda website. It has to be balanced by opinions in support of mandatory and legal hijab. --Expectant of Light (talk) 18:50, 30 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Why? This is an article about people protesting against the dress code, it is not about the merits and demerits of the code itself. Pincrete (talk) 19:37, 13 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Lead image[edit]

Is it really beneficial to have an "Iranian girl" in Linz, Austria being the lead image for a protest that took/currently takes place primarily in Iran? Alssa1 (talk) 09:58, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
