Title[edit]

I'm wondering if this article should be moved to Islamic Center of Murfreesboro mosque controversy, since it deals almost exclusively with the controversy over the ICM's new mosque, rather than the ICM specifically. Bms4880 (talk) 13:20, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I wondered about that too, but I would like to see more information about the ICM being added to the article in due course. The problem is that I haven't found enough ICM-specific information to justify a separate article. Prioryman (talk) 22:54, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Status[edit]

The federal court's TRO expired three weeks ago. Have there been any developments since then, or did the opponents give up? Kablammo (talk) 16:41, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The federal lawsuit brought by the DoJ and the ICM against the county is still ongoing - the county has only awarded a temporary certificate of occupation, not a permanent one. The opponents are apparently trying to intervene in the case but as they were not involved as plaintiffs they are likely to have problems with standing. Prioryman (talk) 16:56, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The TRO was extended through Aug 15, and a hearing on the preliminary injuction is set for Aug 24. The US and Rutherford County jointly requested an extension of the TRO for another 30 days; that motion was denied today. Kablammo (talk) 18:09, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Is that on the web somewhere? I don't recall seeing it. Prioryman (talk) 19:57, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The docket sheet and documents can be accessed via a PACER account (which is a pay account), virtually in real time. I can send you a copy of the docket sheet if you want; I have e-mail enabled. Kablammo (talk) 20:45, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, OK. I'm not too bothered, to be honest, I'll just keep an eye on the news to see if anything surfaces. Prioryman (talk) 21:00, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This morning (24 Aug) the US dismissed its motion for an injunction as the county yesterday issued a final certificate of occupancy. That should be picked up by media today or tomorrow. Kablammo (talk) 15:53, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The issuance of the COO was reported yesterday.[1] Kablammo (talk) 17:42, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Country[edit]

To everybody who thinks 'USA' or 'US' is not necessary in the article - Wikipedia is an international encyclopaedia, not an American one, and the US is not the default here. We do not, in a US-centric way, assume everybody knows where Tennessee is. We provide pertinent information. A lot of readers might not know that Tennessee is a US state. We provide that information. The US is not so great that it can assume everyone knows everything about it. 86.133.210.76 (talk) 23:18, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Picture of Historic Courthouse[edit]

The picture of the historic courthouse indicating it as the site of the lawsuits surrounding the mosque needs to be removed. The historic courthouse has not been the site of court operations for over 10 years prior to the lawsuits. Parcequilfaut (talk) 05:37, 27 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Time to summarize[edit]

While there was considerable controversy, with of course statements made by many politicians, the court cases are now settled. It is time to summarize the controversy and legal actions; it should not take over this entire article, even though it was extensively covered. For example, many people's statements of four years ago could be shortened or omitted; they were included because the controversy was ongoing, but it is time to shift from journalism to an encyclopedic summary, please.Parkwells (talk) 01:41, 15 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

More discussion of community[edit]

It would be useful to have more discussion of the Muslim community in Murfreesboro.Parkwells (talk) 01:51, 15 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
