The irony of Rod covering this is almost too heavy to deal with. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.138.235.243 (talk) 19:10, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You Bonnie Tyler fans need to stop making stuff up. Juice Newton released the song before Bonnie Tyler or any other artist, therefore Tyler's version is a cover. I own the original Mexican 45 record, which is dated 1977. Unless anyone here can provide proof that Bonnie Tyler released the song in 1977, the article needs to stay the way it is. Furthermore, the main Bonnie Tyler entry is a complete joke. 80 million in album sales? Yeah, right. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 159.142.232.104 (talk) 17:03, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies if this has popped up in the wrong way... I have altered the sentence regarding Rod Stewart covering the song as it was factually incorrect. I removed the reference to playing the song in the fall tour in 2009 as it has been played several times previously on tour since being recorded in 2006, and was in the set for the whole tour of 2009 starting at Hollywood in January 2009.Bobinscotland (talk) 15:35, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Newton or Tyler - who was first?

[edit]

There seems to be some debate about who actually recorded the song first. It would appear that both Juice Newton and Bonnie Tyler recorded the song in 1977, and both were released in 1977 (Tyler's wasn't a hit in the US untul 1978, but it was already a Top 10 hit in the UK in 1977). Unless there is absolute, substantiated proof of who did it first, can we please avoid turning this article into a Newton v. Tyler rivalry page. Thank you. 80.43.190.96 (talk) 16:38, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why Juice Newton ?

[edit]

1. How Tyler's single-78 was in British charts-77 ? 2. Ronnie Spector recorded 08.16.1977. Who made earlier ? Pojuella (talk) 14:15, 12 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
