This article's name is largely WP:OR and the latter sources 2015–onward seem to be piggybacking off of our error such as in The Historical Ecology of Malaria in Ethiopia: Deposing the Spirits (McCann, James C.) (including the Italian Wikipedia, Discussione:Etiopia italiana, calling the name chosen as fascist in nature, and not a true colony in disagreement with the naming convention). This is a huge problem we are facing today that I believe is going unaddressed. These errors need to be systematically reversed before piggybacking is rendered; and shortcuts are taken by these authors.

Italian occupation of Ethiopia is by far the most common name, in fact it isn't even close. "Occupation" "Italian Ethiopia" Furthermore, a occupation from 1936–1941 and officially ceased by 1947, is hardly a colony. In fact, Ethiopia prides itself as being the sole African country not to be colonized by a European power (one call also argue Liberia) as both territories were in constant war during the time span of this "so-called" Italian colony. [1] See: First Italo-Ethiopian War (failed Italian attempt), Second Italo-Ethiopian War (successful attempt to occupy), Italian guerrilla war in Ethiopia (which resulted in an Italian defeat and failed attempt to incorporate Ethiopia into Italian East Africa). Real time (not Italian time), the relinquishing of Ethiopia from Mussolini's hands ended in 1941, after British troops intervened (after first recognizing Italian rule) and restoring rule to Ethiopia's emperor Haile Selassie. The United States' refusal to recognize the "Italian conquest of Ethiopia". [3]

Italian Ethopia is nothing but a pseudo-name and pro-facist (also perhaps pro-European; ±WP:BIAS) that has little backing by actual sources. Savvyjack23 (talk) 22:23, 24 April 2017 (UTC)

fr:Empire italien d'Éthiopie is also source heavily of this "occupation", the debate on if it was an actual colony and uses the word "conquest" once, only of a title of a book. Savvyjack23 (talk) 22:36, 24 April 2017 (UTC)
IMO this situation is no different than the German military administration in occupied France during World War II, which lasted 4 years (1940–1944). The League of Nations sanctioned Italy over this conquest of Ethiopia, and embargoed all but oil to them for fear that the U.S. who supplied oil to Italy would not be on board. Both were textbook military occupations, and no colonies were ever accomplished on either territory; no notable lingua, ethnic or cultural impacts resulted. The name can be kept (or maybe switch to Italian Empire of ethiopia, but I am okay with keepinh the name). But the article should be more accurate. I'm constantly in a fight between Italians and Ethiopians over semantics. Barjimoa (talk) 11:35, 5 October 2017 (UTC)
