Nationality?[edit]

Let us not play games with nationalities. Is there any proof that Sert (or whatever is her official name now -- BTW, do we know or is it just a claim in yellow press that she has changed it?) has renounced Turkish nationality? On the other hand, is there a proof that she ever had it? Do not add and remove such information at whim. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.41.252.227 (talk) 06:04, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

According to an interview done in 13th of July 2014, she had not renounced her Turkish citizenship. The very top question asked is "Siz Türk vatandaşı mısınız?" (Are you a Turkish citizen?) and her answer is "Evet, Türk vatandaşı oldum." (Yes, I have become a Turkish citizen). In following questions, she claims that she got the citizenship after marriage (probably because of the 4 years of legal waiting time to be eligible to apply) and she also explains in the interview that she wanted to get a Turkish name (originally aimed to get "Su"- which means water in Turkish), but kept Ivana instead, due to heavy bureaucratic procedures involved for changing it. She also explains that she still keeps the Sert surname (unlike what is written in this wikipedia article), as the Sert name became a well known brand by itself.
