B&O Roundhouse

[edit]

The current text mentions a B&O roundhouse in Ivy City, but no year or reference is cited:

As part of the construction, the railroad company built its last roundhouse (the current Amtrak yard) one mile outside the city limit.

I've found no documents showing that there was a B&O roundhouse before 1890. The company built a roundhouse around 1890 in the Trinidad neighborhood, east of Ivy City. (See Herbert Harwood, Jr., Impossible Challenge, 1979.) The B&O used this facility until a new roundhouse was built in Ivy City around 1908, for joint use by the B&O and the Pennsylvania Railroad. There was also a B&O freight yard at Eckington--but not a roundhouse--starting in 1889. Caseyjonz (talk) 07:34, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
