Izzy Gomez is a fictional character who appeared in the 1989 television series TUGS, created by the producers of Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends, David Mitton and Robert D. Cardona.

Izzy is a large steam tramper from South America, or perhaps Mexico. He is a regular sight in Bigg City Port, bringing in large loads of imported banannas. He has a thick South American accent and is instinguishable by his large sun-shade hat. Izzy is infamous for trying (and failing) to bribe tug boats into giving him a cheap tow into port for very small funds.

Izzy has landed himself in various troublesome situations, and has proven to be quite a handful for the Star Fleet. However, he was in the fortunate position to witness Zorran's sabotage of the Duchess' docking operation (see Episode 01 - Sunshine), and hence was able to put Sunshine in the clear.

It is possible to imply that Izzy is named after a legendary bar-tender from Portugal who emigrated to San Francisco and went on to become the successful founder of a 'steak and chop' resturant chain.
