It looks like this is already in the article. RudolfRed (talk) 23:45, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the paragraph titled "High school and college career" the sentence about McGee being the starting center for Nevada is sandwiched between to sentences about McGee's time in high school. I believe that it would read better if the Nevada sentence came thereafter. Ordered thus, it would also mean that it would only be necessary to use reference number 1 one time in the section, instead of twice, as it is. 78.53.71.227 (talk) 13:05, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

McGee and Shaq

[edit]

Would his frequent appearances on TNT's "Shaqtin a Fool" be noteworthy? He seems to be known for it these days almost as much as his work on the court, especially after the war of words he and Shaq had on social media. -Chimino (talk) 04:56, 23 April 2017 (UTC) Chimino (talk) 04:56, 23 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There should be a mention of his mother Pamela McGee, and his sister, both of whom have also been professional basketball players. Javale and his sister are mentioned in the article on Pamela, but there's no link to the article on Javale.Neurodog (talk) 20:21, 7 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Neurodog: Have another look – there is plenty of detail on his family in the personal section JaVale McGee#Personal life. DaHuzyBru (talk) 03:42, 8 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Lakers signing

[edit]

I was surprised not to see any Wikipedia editors noting the signing of McGee to the Lakers, for three days after its announcement. There was also nothing about it on the article's Talk page. So I posted the news with a reference. Then I thought to look at the recent history and saw that numerous editors had made such changes, and an equal number had stressed that a signing would only be possible at the earliest on July 6th or 7th. Consequently I modified my edit to reflect that this was not yet a done deal. I hope that's sufficient to please everyone. Activist (talk) 09:32, 5 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Activist: WP:SPORTSTRANS describes what typically happens with these reports of deals. During the July moratorium, verbal agreements can be reached, but they are not binding, so definitely there is no signing yet. So the question is whether there is consensus to add a note based on (presumably) anonymous sources, or just wait a few days for the deal to be officially announced. Regards.—Bagumba (talk) 09:41, 5 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your input. A lot of sources are confirming the move, but I have no doubt that this will be an issue of contention between other editors until its legal and confirmed, a situation I hoped my edit would avoid. Guess not. I should start a pool on how many editors will make changes and reversions until it's official. Activist (talk) 10:13, 5 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Shaqtin’ A Fool

[edit]

McGee was a mainstay on "Shaqtin' a Fool," a weekly bloopers segment during TNT's "Inside the NBA," early in his career. He earned the nickname "Tragic Bronson" from analyst Shaquille O'Neal over boneheaded plays and bizarre mistakes. These events culminated with JaVale McGee and Shaquille O’Neal having a Twitter beef, eventually ending when Shaquille O’Neal agreed to not include McGee in the Shaqtin’ A Fool segment any longer. 71.34.214.173 (talk) 02:26, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
