It is reasonably well written.

"best known as the singer of The Kingsmen's version of "Louie Louie"." - Reading this phrase, I first assumed that he covered the song, but then I realize that he was a member of the band. Perhaps reword to "best known for the song "Louie Louie" with The Kingsmen"
