Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on June 8, 2010.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that Jack Faber received a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, where he also served as the school's Department of Microbiology head, football coach, and men's lacrosse coach?

Untitled[edit]

It will be expanded....I am making stubs for all the Maryland Terrapins football coaches and then will be writing fuller bios....btw, as is, he already passes the Wikipedia notability test. WillC 15:50, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure he was a football coach? [1] He appears to have died in 1994, which sounds roughly right for the date range given in the article. But it says there that he coached lacrosse, not football. Which is it? Are there two Jack Fabers? grendel|khan 20:07, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
he coached both. WillC 23:04, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

GA review – see WP:WIAGA for criteria

This article is in decent shape, but it needs more work before it becomes a Good Article.

  1. Is it well written?
    A. The prose is clear and concise, and the spelling and grammar are correct:
    Well done.
    B. It complies with the manual of style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation:
In the Early life section, "Faber was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on January 13, 1903 and attended Central High School" ---> "Faber was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on January 13, 1903, and attended Central High School", commas after dates, if using MDY.
    Check.
  2. Is it verifiable with no original research, as shown by a source spot-check?
    A. It contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline:
The link title in Reference 14 isn't supposed to be in all capitals, per here.
    Check.
    B. Reliable sources are cited inline. All content that could reasonably be challenged, except for plot summaries and that which summarizes cited content elsewhere in the article, must be cited no later than the end of the paragraph (or line if the content is not in prose):
    C. It contains no original research:
    D. It contains no copyright violations nor plagiarism:
  3. Is it broad in its coverage?
    A. It addresses the main aspects of the topic:
    B. It stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style):
  4. Is it neutral?
It represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each:
  5. Is it stable?
It does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute:
  6. Is it illustrated, if possible, by images?
    A. Images are tagged with their copyright status, and valid non-free use rationales are provided for non-free content:
    B. Images are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions:
  7. Overall:
    Pass or Fail:
Not that much to do. If the statements above can be answered, I will pass the article. Good luck!

  • Green tickY I believe I addressed both points. If there are any other recommendations, please let me know. Thanks for the review. Strikehold (talk) 04:18, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • Yes, you have, cause everything checks out, and you're welcome for the review. Thank you to Strikehold for getting the stuff I left at the talk page, because I have gone off and placed the article as GA. Congrats. ;) --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 15:16, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
