the link for glenn jones links to a page about the wrong glenn jones! there is no page for glenn jones guitarist.

I've re-written the entirety of Jack's page. Tried to be as objective in POV as I could as relating to Fahey/Takoma comparisons. Mentioned (but need better citations to) reviews that make this claim and cited Ben Chasny as a counter-point. Still could use much more biographical substance. I've rated my own work with a "C" -- I'm hoping that by taking this out of the Stub-zone, the ball will get rolling and we'll see some more helpful contributions. Hagiography

But his physical appearance is so strikingly anglo-Christ-like! ;-)
I'll take this into consideration and attempt to rewrite certain sections. My hope was that by expanding and structuring the article it would lead to more contributions from other viewpoints, ending up with something with more objectivity and less POV. Obviously this didn't happen. If you have any specific suggestions, let me know. Tell me what the "little more" is so I know what to keep. I'm not being facetious; I'd like for this to turn into a great article and I'm glad there's someone here telling me it's crap. Let's work on this. I think I was overly harsh about this article when I wrote the above and I'm sorry. I had just had a jaded experience at the hands of too much "considered by many to be"'s that mushroom unstoppably across Wikipedia, especially in articles on modern musics, and was feeling a bit sullen.

SO, I don't think its crap at all, it has plenty of substance to it and perhaps just needs some stylistic finessing to take out some of the more vernacular tonalities that do, from time to time, make it sound a bit like a PR exercise. Clarification[edit]

As the person that bid $500 for the LP on ebay I would like to state that I did it to help him pay for a trip to the west coast. I am a "neighbor" of Glenn Jones and Jack sent me a personal thankyou via Glenn. People blew this out of proportion, so please there is no record collector "mafia".

Haha, understood. I've changed the page to make it explicit that it was a benefit auction. The only reason I think the mention is relevant is cause of the unfortunate "market" for his records on eBay: it's pretty significant considering Jack isn't the most well-known guitarist in the world. If anyone follows the citation link they can read for themselves that it was to fund his trip to the west coast.. And I thank you for that, by the way! The picture of Rose is backwards. He's a right handed guitarist. I don't know what I am doing, so yeah. This is probably wrong.

Article status[edit]

I returned to see how this article has developed since I added the photo in the infobox and am amazed that anybody could rank a biography article as B-level. In addition, the man is a guitarist- why is there little mention of his equipment, sound, and why hasn't the Wikipedia guitar group involved here? I am attempting to rectify those notes, but unfortunately don't have enough time to add the text and references needed to do it justice. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 13:17, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Jack Rose photo[edit]

I contacted Simon Fernandez, who is the author of the pic of Jack playing at the Luminaire in 2007, and he confirmed my suspicion that the original pic had been flipped due to formatting issues related to a magazine article publication. Simon has since flipped the pic on Flickr back to the original image, and I just added it to Wikimedia Commons. We now have Jack Rose playing right-handed, as he should be!
