Possible inaccuracy[edit]

I took most of this page from the Jewish Encyclopedia. But one element which an expert in this field may choose to look at is a discrepancy between it and several other reputable sources. e.g. the book to which I linked by Jamil Abu Nasr: [1]. This book names Pierre Deval as the Consul and says it was he who was insulted (hit with a fly whip) by the Dey. This also appears in these pages:

http://www.answers.com/topic/fly-whisk-incident

http://www.britannica.com/eb/topic-309339/Kabyle

and in several other sources. It seems to me possible that the Jewish Encyclopedia (written in 1901-6) is wrong. Please change the article if you know for sure. Thanks.--Lopakhin (talk) 00:59, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Desagree of neutrality[edit]

This article want "faire porter" to the jews the responsability of the french conquest of Algeria (and colonization), this is wrong, the Bacri incident has no force anyone to do a conquest, there are multiple parameters, political, economical, sociological and historical which led to a conquest, much more that the Bacri affair, and its certainly not an incident minor which led to a conquest, its a stupid and pueril interpretation. This is the copy of the article in the Encyclopaedia Judaica itself.
