Is there any historical referance explaining the origin of the name "Jadavpur"? I have not come accross any such pointer which justifies that this place has got its name from "Jadav". Please check the correctness. Biplab

@Biplab, This link explains the origin of the name. This should be fairly accurate, although I cannot vouch for it.
