What should I do?

History[edit]

The sentence "On August 1816, the English gave the Indies back to the Dutch East Indies and Batavia was under the governorship of the Netherlands once more." needs clarification and citation. What is meant here by "the Indies"? According to Java#Colonial periods, the English captured Java in 1811 and returned it to the Dutch in 1814 (Treaty of Paris); during 1811-1814, Raffles is said to have been governor. According to Herman Willem Daendels#Governor-General of the Dutch East Indies, Daendels arrived in Jakarta in 1808 and "promptly" rid Java of the British army. The first paragraph of this article present Daendels having the idea and Raffles implementing it, as if they were cooperating. Then the second paragraph says it went back to the Dutch in 1816. The British stayed until 1816, the governor general in charge after Raffles left was John Fendall, Jr. Bungutebungute (talk) 05:06, 24 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
