CJNG is now part of the Sinaloa Cartel[edit]

According to Stratfor, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel is part of Sinaloa's subgroups. It says that "Sinaloa affiliated itself with the Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generacion (CJNG)." [1]

This is what the article says: Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generacion "After the death of Ignacio "El Nacho" Coronel in July 2010, his followers suspected the Sinaloa cartel had betrayed him and broke away to form the CJNG. In spring 2011, the CJNG declared war on all other Mexican cartels and stated its intention to take control of Guadalajara. However, by midsummer, the group appeared to have been reunited with its former partners in the Sinaloa Federation. We are unsure what precipitated the reconciliation, but it seems that the CJNG was somehow convinced that Sinaloa did not betray Coronel after all. It is also possible CJNG was convinced that Coronel needed to go. In any case, CJNG "sicarios," or assassins, in September traveled to the important Los Zetas stronghold of Veracruz, labeled themselves the "Matazetas," or Zeta killers, and began to murder alleged Zetas members and their supporters. By mid-December, the CJNG was still in Veracruz fighting Los Zetas while also helping to protect Guadalajara and other areas on Mexico's west coast from Zetas aggression."

I'll be out for the rest of the day, but I just wanted to clarify this. Thanks. ComputerJA (talk) 19:21, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I found conflicting reports but it seems the latest is their alliance with the Sinaloa cartel. Thank you for the heads up. Cheers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 09:44, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
After reading about the new video release, I wonder how the CJNG is an ally of the Sinaloa Cartel while battling La Resistencia (a branch of Sinaloa)? BatteryIncluded (talk) 14:21, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the initial feud in Jalisco was between the CJNG and the Milenio Cartel, who then formed an alliance with LFM (creating La Resistencia), to stop the push of Los Zetas into their territory. Then, several factions of LFM and La Resistencia started to unite with Los Zetas. [2] I'm kinda confuse though, because there are also sources that reveal that La Resistencia was created after the rupture b/w Los Valencia and the Sinaloa Cartel.[3] -.- ComputerJA (talk) 15:52, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
We have to go with the most recent reports because La Familia at some point also had a group called La Resistencia. I doubt it is the same group wth the same aliances. Cheers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 15:59, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Arrest[edit]

I find it amusing that their lider was arrested the day after I created this article. Should we create another new aricle on El Chapo Guzman? Or on Bashar al-Assadpo?  ;-) BatteryIncluded (talk) 12:59, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That's so true O.O I'm down for that, and preferably Lazcano if you ask me :p
Anyways, here's the article on the attacks against the Mexican marines and the police: [4] It reads in Spanish, "Ambas capturas provocaron una serie de agresiones armadas contra militares y policías." (English: Both captures provoked a series of armed agressions against the military [Sedena, in this case] and the police.) Thanks. ComputerJA (talk) 18:37, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yep. Lascano has got it comming too. I too am fluent in Spanish. In Mexico, SEDENA = Ejercito = Army. SEMAR = Navy = Armada de Mexico. So the attacks were vs. the Army (ejercito), not the Navy. I am sure the police was there too. Cheers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 18:49, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Alliance with Los Zetas[edit]

Yes, according to the latest updates from analysts, La Resistencia is currently fighting los Zetas. The latest edit was a nice update. Cheers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 16:28, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fighting Los Zetas or with Los Zetas? The source I added said they had an alliance. ComputerJA (talk) 17:24, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. Often reporters in Mexico base their current reports (specially on history) on older reports, therefore we are bound to see some incongruuencies in news media. Look at the release by Stratfor you posted above. There was a brief alliance with los Zetas. "Los Zetas are sharing territories with cartels they reportedly have relationships with, including the Cartel Pacifico Sur (CPS), La Resistencia and the remnants of LFM."
The latest is that they are fighting against Los Zetas, therefore their nickname "Mata-zetas". BatteryIncluded (talk) 18:09, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Earlier appearance: 2009[edit]

The Matazetas had earlier appearances in 2009 [5] [6] [7] [8] Should this be the year of its foundation? ComputerJA (talk) 15:28, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I guess so. BatteryIncluded (talk) 14:19, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Substance[edit]

I noticed that this article is simply a list of massacres attributed to the cartel. An encyclopedic article requires a description of the cartel, origin, operations, leadership, status, etc., in a section of its own. Rowan Forest (talk) 13:41, 29 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Ah, yes. This article was expanded when a lot about the CJNG was not known in good detail. I think it'd be good if we update it using info from some of the biographies I've made. You can find the leadership here. Right now I'm working on more Gulf Cartel biographies but I'd love to get back to the CJNG later. Regards, MX () 14:21, 29 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

CJNG is not semi-militarized[edit]

CJNG is a criminal organization made up of drug traffickers and hitmen. It is not a semi-militarized or militarized group. These things are said by the media to exaggerate news. Many media exaggerate the information. These are "armies" of hitmen, not mercenaries. They have nothing to do with being a mercenary. 201.164.12.124 (talk) 23:15, 7 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

i just found CJNG OFFICIAL WEBSITE cjng.org[edit]

https://www.cjng.org They disclosed several projects for 2023 on it, including bringing food and water to the poor and investing in public utilities, church hospitals and so on And the intelligence system is opened, everyone who reports will be rewarded through the blockchain, which is really crazy Temeta (talk) 11:45, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
