"The early 1970s was a very important time for black filmmakers at UCLA."

This is well established in the book referenced at the end of this paragraph; the relevant chapter can be read via Google Books. I am removing the template, but not altering the reference as it is, in my judgement, near enough the text in question.Bustter (talk) 18:15, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Missing info[edit]

Aside from the fact that this article reads like it was written by Fanaka himself, or at least a very, very thinly veiled love-letter to him, the articles states that he's an award winning film-maker yet I can't find in the article what awards, if any, this guy has won.

It's also extremely full of weasel words, irrelevant information, and just info that isn't pertinent to his career (such as his grades at school). It reads like an absolutely horribly written press release. 68.97.129.237 (talk) 16:11, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed some unsourced material, especially material related to other individuals, companies, and media outlets. Hopefully this bio can be further copy edited and only reliable sourced material added going forward. Anyways, --Threeafterthree (talk) 17:17, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Potential sources[edit]

There appear to be quite a few potential sources available through googlebooks
