Untitled[edit]

Please note that Drummond was born either late in 1786 or early 1787 - his baptism has been traced in parochial records (as explained in my paper in Archive of natural history). Also please note he was from inverarity in Angus and not Hawthornden in Perth, much as he may have promoted the latter as his place of birth. The same applies to his brother Thomas (baptised April 1793). --E. Charles Nelson 18:34, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed "conducted research into the life history of mosses, and" because I believe this is a confusion with his brother Thomas - I know of no work by James Drummond (during his Irish years) on mosses. His publications (few and far between) are on cultivatied plants and Irish native species. Thomas Drummond, on the other hand, did produce Musci scotici and Musci americani, both containing moss specimens.--E. Charles Nelson 14:23, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
