The New York Times obituary[edit]

I found extracts on YouTube. I've done my best to sort out conflicting information; but a check against the original printed version is clearly needed:

The YouTube extracts date the obituary to 3 March 1967. Other, reliable-looking, sources give Friskin's date of death as 16 March 1967.
Friskin first performed Bach's 48 in USA in either 1934 or 1937.
The YouTube extracts do not name the obituarist; who seems to have been a Friskin pupil, and may be WikiNotable, and perhaps even be the subject of an existing article.

Biography[edit]

It is stated in the article that Friskin studied composition under Dannreuther and piano under Stanford. As Stanford was the composer and Dannreuther the pianist I wonder if this is correct. I have no actual evidence either way so am reluctant to make any changes. Does anyone have a verifiable source? Obiskobilob (talk) 15:48, 15 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Obiskobilob: well spotted! I've corrected my mistake using the Bach Cantatas Website. (Other sources just say Dannreuther and Stanford, but it is clear from elsewhere what each one taught.) Narky Blert (talk) 21:49, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
