Proof of owning slaves[edit]

Documents that provide proof he owned slaves? He wrote at least one essay in favor of abolitionism and Benjamin Banneker. Anyone seeking proof can find it by using Google to search on the words "James McHenry slaves". In the first document listed in the search I ran, the Archive of Maryland's Biographical Sketch on McHenry shows 6 slaves in his possession as of 1790 and 10 slaves upon his death in 1816. Other sources that confirm McHenry's slave holdings include the National Parks Service and a paper on JSTOR by Karen Robbins, who authored James McHenry, Forgotten Federalist. Robbins's book also confirms McHenry's ownership of slaves; while I could not access the book, reviews on Amazon.com mention McHenry's association with slavery. I have provided links to the first three sources noted in citations I've added to the lede.
