Preliminary checks: The article is stable and neutral. Earwig's Copyvio Detector returns only one link of concern, and it is a false alarm to a Wikipedia mirror.

Lead[edit]

  • For the image in the infobox, do we know when the photo was actually taken? Since Jones was long deceased by the time of publication of the 1924 yearbook, the photo must be from much earlier. I'm not worried about a copyright concern; just thought it might help the reader to know how old he was at the time of the photo.
* Regarding the image of Jones, I did some research to see whether I could identify the year that this photograph was taken. Unfortunately, I was not able to identify the year. Would it be more appropriate to caption the image, "Photograph, as published in El Ojo" or "Photograph taken prior to 1909." Please let me know how best to handle this lack of year of origin.   • I think I solved the mystery! I finally came across a 1903 newspaper article at the following source that includes this photograph of Jones. Would you suggest me changing this caption to "circa 1903"? -- West Virginian (talk) 23:28, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • "future West Virginia state auditor J. S. Darst" - I think we can get rid of "future" as he was already state auditor when making the comments; no comma after Darst
  • I would briefly introduce James Edwin Campbell - ex: "educational administrator James Edwin Campbell"
  • "from the school School" - repeated word

Lincoln School[edit]

  • I found myself wondering whether Jones met/dated Carrie Harrison and then hired her, or whether the relationship developed after they began to work together. If that is known, it might be good to briefly clarify (maybe in the Personal Life section rather than here though).
  • Like the date of his photograph in the infobox, I was unfortunately able to find a date for when Jones met/dated Harrison. Please let me know how best to handle this since this information is not known. -- West Virginian (talk) 23:19, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • "Atkinson Republican Club, which had a membership of over 100 African-American voters" - Was this a club only for African Americans, or were there voters of all races, 100 of which were African American?
  • To the best of my knowledge, I was able to ascertain that this was a Republican club of all races, which included over 100 African-American voters. I changed this mention to the following: "ones also founded the Atkinson Republican Club, which was an integrated organization with 100 African-American voters."   • Any idea how long he was involved with Wilgera?

  • Thank you for addressing this feedback promptly. For the infobox image caption, I think "Portrait of Jones ca. 1903" would be good because it allows the reader to know the subject's age, but in any case I'm not going to hold up promotion of the article over that. Thanks for looking at the other questions I asked. I know that when we're going back this far in history, we are likely to have questions that can't be adequately answered by the available sources. This entry does a good job of covering the major aspects of the subject's life. Good research, good writing. A check of the sources shows that the article text is faithful to the sourcing.
