Indian Communal Electorates
Year NFP Alliance
1966 64 15
1968 77 21
1972 73 24
March 1977 73 16
September 1977 85 14
1982 83 15
1987 82 15

Note that in 1966 there were a large number of independent candidates including James Shankar Singh who is not included in the above but was an Alliance supporter.

In September 1977 the Alliance, in at least in the Lautoka seat supported the Flower candidate (Jai Ram Reddy) against the Dove candidate (Sidiq Koya). Hence in this election the Alliance's Indian vote is lower than normal and NFP's (which is actually the total of Flower and Dove votes is higher than normal.

In general the NFP Indian votes gradually increased to stabilize at 83%, whereas Alliance's Indian votes decreased to stabilize at around 15%

In 1987 NFP was in coalition with labour
