Misuse of word

[edit]

Introductory paragraph:

"Premier League club Southampton, whom he captains". Shouldn't 'whom' be 'which', as Southampton FC is not a person? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.154.242.88 (talk) 23:24, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Assists

[edit]

Assists are a key part of James' game. It would be cool to add assist statistics alongside appearances and goals. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Djamck (talkcontribs) 09:19, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

we do not log assists, see also WP:NOTSTATS. GiantSnowman 12:30, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
"we do not log assists" well that is just a blanket statement. Who says we do not log assists? That is the point of the discussion. I see the link but don't personally view assists as excessive or unexplained. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Djamck (talkcontribs) 11:21, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Owner of Portsmouth FC?

[edit]

I saw this line in the first para -- "He is the current owner of Portsmouth FC". Someone's taking the piss right? As far as I can tell from google, Portsmouth's owner is the Disney guy Michael Eisner. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ultimateposeur (talkcontribs) 08:57, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it's vandalism, well done on spotting and removing. GiantSnowman 09:27, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Similar types of editing have also occurred on other random pages in recent times this year such as Richarlison Talk:Divock Origi, Jadon Sancho, Caroline Weir etc. I would imagine there are more of that type of editing going on which I'm not aware of. Most likely it is the work of multiple people rather than just one person by looking at the IP addresses. But thankfully I was there to revert that nonsense on three of the four edits I've linked here. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 11:58, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
it'll be a meme or similar, see this. GiantSnowman 14:12, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, I have never seen it defined as that before. But it does make a bit of sense as to why these people pick up clubs the footballers I mentioned recently played against at time of edits instead of being random. The Portsmouth one here is more of an obvious connection as seen on the article. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 19:14, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
