Criticism from n+1[edit]

The text cited in the "Cons" section doesn't clearly express what, exactly, the editors of n+1 were criticizing. Also I'm not sure that splitting this portion of the article into "Pros" and "Cons" is necessary, especially given their brevity. livefastdieold (talk) 22:19, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

While I have no doubt that should n+1 have appeared at almost any prior period in the 20th century, it would have become a well known (within the confines of an intellectual magazine) and important journal, alas it is a product of the early 2000's and isn't. I don't think that what their editors may or may not think about the subject of this article (or perhaps any other) means a whole lot, and probably should be removed. (A similar example would be: would anybody care what the editors' stand of the contempoary journal Standpoint be on anything or anybody, as far as their view being reported in a Wiki entry???? Novel[edit]

To say that woods wrote "an autobiographical novel about his father" might not be quite accurate. He grew up in a religious family and embraced atheism as a young man, but as far as I know, there's no evidence that he's a compulsive liar, or that he he frittered away many years working on an unfinished thesis. Nor is the book "about his father" or the character's father per se...its about the roughly Woods-like character Thomas. I think I'll change it to just "novel". Something is wrong with the page, as on my computer it says that he is married to Dan Brown [with link], but on the edit page his wife's name is what appears.

maximalism[edit]

Pro/Con - Bloom[edit]

Surprised to see Harold Bloom listed in the "Pro" section. He's on record with some very dismissive comments about Wood, at least in this interview ("there's nothing to the man"): [[1]] I would suggest moving Bloom to the "Con" section. Sbsbsbsb (talk) 15:22, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
