Jana Sorgers-RauJana Sorgers – Sorgers finished her stellar career and then won the Thomas Keller Medal, the highest award that can be bestowed to a rower. By all means, she is a well-known person (at least in rowing circles). After she retired, she married and changed her name. As often happens with female athletes, some editor will come along sometime later and move the article to the married name without discussion. In this case, this happened in 2013 and the move rationale given was "married name". This is contrary to Wikipedia:MAIDEN, where it is stated that "the general rule in such cases is to title the article with the name by which the person is best known" (link and emphasis as per the source). Despite the guidelines being clear on this, the application of this principle isn't always adhered to in move discussions either. The Evers-Swindell twins did get moved back to their maiden names while Megan Marcks remained at her married name. Given the high profile that Sorgers achieved during her career, I suggest that the common name remains to be her maiden name. In 2016 there was a break-in and her Olympic medals got stolen, which was widely reported (in the German media), but I don't think that shifts the common name situation. Her husband, Oliver Rau, is the one that has an on-going media profile through his work and she thus gets a lot of incidental mentions in the (German) media. But again, I don't think that shifts the situation as far as the English WP is concerned. Schwede66 19:51, 21 September 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. • It's obviously not controversial. Time to close this? Schwede66 18:51, 6 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
