Unlike most people, I have not held regular jobs or had one main profession. Instead of a list of a few large activities, this resume is a weaving together of the many little pieces which form my life history.

Childhood and High School • Born non-labor caesarean in Boston, MA, April 11, 1942 • Grew up in a small New England town, in a colonial house built in 1765. • One older brother. • Spent much time playing alone in the woods, also skiing and hiking in the White Mountains of NH with family, starting about age 4. • Summers at Girl Scout camps 1954-1959, two years as counselor-in-training. • Graduated in 1960 from Northfield School, a non-denominational religious private girls school in the Connecticut River valley at Northfield, MA.

College 1960-1964 - Mount Holyoke College • On college ski team and on Ski Patrol at Mount Tom Ski Area, Holyoke, MA 1962-64. • Mountain Leadership training course, Appalachian Mountain Club - 1961 • Counselor at private girls camps 1961-63 summers. Led hiking and canoe trips. • Bachelor of Arts 1964 from Mount Holyoke College with high honors in physics.

Graduate School 1964-1970 - University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI • Physics teaching assistant 1964-66. • Ph.D. in experimental sub-atomic particle physics, University of Wisconsin, 1970. • Dissertation on "Resonance Formation in Backward Elastic Anti-Proton/Proton Scattering." • Began black&white photography work.

Stillpoint 1970-1974 • Married to Gia-fu Feng in 1970 in a Buddhist wedding ceremony performed by Alan Watts •Co-directed (with Gia-fu Feng) Stillpoint Foundation, a Taoist meditation community and growth center that moved from CA to VT to CO. • Taught undergraduate courses on "Chinese Philosophy and Modern Physics" at Colorado College, Colorado Springs, CO, and at Thomas Jefferson College, Allendale, MI in 1972-74.

Human Potential Movement 1974-1978 Big Sur, Bolinas, and Mendocino, CA • Lived a year at Esalen Institute 1974-75. Learned Gestalt practice from Dick Price, and Tai Chi from Chungliang Al Huang. Began inner exploration of the psychological and spiritual aspects of having been born caesarean. • Attended a 9-month Sensory Awareness Study Group led by Charlotte Selver at Green Gulch Farm of San Francisco Zen Center 1975-76. • Attended "Maps of Consciousness," a month-long workshop at Esalen Co-ordinated by Stan and Christina Grof, 1977. • Spent a month meditating and vision questing alone in a cabin in the Mendocino woods, 1978.

San Francisco and Berkeley, CA 1978-1983 •Classes at California Institute of Integral Studies(CIIS) in San Francisco. • Darkroom back in Mendocino burned - November 1978 • Art display, “A Personal/Transpersonal View of This Place” for the 1979 International Transpersonal Conference • Taught a workshop Explorations of Physics and Consciousness at CIIS in 1981. • Co-ordinator, with Angeles Arrien, of the 1982 and 1983 Tarot Symposiums.

Inverness, San Rafael and Point Reyes Station, CA 1983-1987 • Attended 1983 International Transpersonal conference in Davos Switzerland, then went alone on a 10 day personal vision quest in the Basque areas of France and Spain. • Taught workshops on "Inner Light/Outer Light - an exploration of photography and consciousness" • Gave lecture/slideshows on the psychological and spiritual aspects of being born caesarean to numerous groups • Founded Earth Heart, a publishing business. • Member of organizing committee for the Third International Congress on Pre and Perinatal Psychology (PPPANA) 1987. • Training in shamanic practices with Michael Harner. Month-long tutorial at Esalen 1984, workshops 1983-86.

Mount Shasta, CA 1987- 2002 • Published several books and calendars. • Created and maintained a large vegetable garden with friends and neighbors 1987-1997. • Led public star-gazing events 1991-95. Attendance often over 100 people. • Earned an Extra class Amateur Radio License; assisted with communications at public events such as bike races and with emergency communications for Red Cross and CA Dept of Forestry. President of Siskiyou County Amateur Radio Assn. in 1996. • Learned to fly a hot-air balloon, got a commercial pilot certificate in 1997. • Created the Cesarean Voices website at <http://www.eheart.com/cesarean> as an alternative to another book on cesarean birth. The site includes art and writings by cesareans, their parents, and birth and psychology professionals. (By the way -- it is spelled four different ways: cesarean, caesarean, cesarian, caesarian)

Vermont 2002 to the present • Moved back to VT in August 2002. • Currently working on Great Grandmother’s Griddle, the story of a cast-iron griddle that has been in 7 generations of the mother-line of my family since 1776.
