Greek origin

[edit]

Jani Papadhopulli is certainly of Greek origin.

Papadhopulli derives from the very common Greek surname Papadopoulos (Παπαδόπουλος), literally meaning "son of a priest", as I said, it is very common in Greece, especially in Peloponnese. And Jani reminds of a Greek first name: Γιάννης, pronounced somewhere in between Jiannis and Yiannis, meaning John.

Jani Papadhopuli is one of Albania's founding fathers. Your ethymological opinion is not relevant in Wikipedia. --Sulmues talk 18:54, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't really care who who is, this entomology is clear, and your opinion is not relevant even more per this pro-albanian POV sentence above. He is Greek origin, and you cannot do anything about that, except finding source that claim different. --Tadijataking 16:36, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's spelt ethymology: the entomology is the science that studies the bees and other bugs, but I guess you are referring to the ethymology of the word. There are Papadopulos in Italy, are they Greek too? --Sulmues talk 20:34, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Actually it's spelt "etymology". Athenean (talk) 20:37, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Athenean. See you guys can go tag this page Giuseppe_Papadopulo with Greece, I don't care. --Sulmues talk 20:38, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well the name "Papadopoulos" almost certainly implies Greek origin, however this individual obviously did not identify as Greek (after all, he did sign the Albanian declaration of independence), so I won't insist here. Athenean (talk) 20:40, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That's exactly my point and I thank you for your input. Greece tag goes. --Sulmues talk 20:42, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
