[edit]- I find the table strange. What is it a table of? What does "year of graduation" refer to? // habj 20:17, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- The table is a list of the graduates of the instructor program. However, it includes (with few exceptions) only one side of the great schism.
- I might be wrong, but aren't the names in the table given inconsistently, in terms of firstname/surname ?

Evolution of JKA
[edit]While there is evidence that Nakayama was responsible for changes in Shotokan Karate kicking, the changes in stances came from Gigo Funakoshi, who developed stances that were wider and more practical for blocking and attacking, whereas the older stances emphasized the total committment to a technique.
ITKF and other Instructors
[edit]Even though H. Nishiyama is mentioned as one of the founders of the JKA, he is not mentioned afterward. H. Nishiyama was the Chief of the Technical Committee, and the person responsible JKA Karate Tournaments and the Instructors program. He never resigned from JKA and could not be booted out, yet he saw no reason to return to Japan either. Much of this is on Wikipedia already, except for the politics. The ISKF, consisting of T.Okazaki, T. Mikami, and other senior instructors, broke away from the ITKF. H. Nishiyama, until his death, was still the top JKA Instructor next to Nakayama.
Another JKA instructor not mentioned, but was the only one to be sent abroad without attending the Instructors Program, was Shojiro Sugiyama. His 25 Kata book was a best seller among Shotokan practitioners around the world. He was the Chief Instructor for the Great Lakes Region of the JKA in the US and then under the ITKF. He left the ITKF around 2005.
Australian JKA websites - December 2012
[edit]A contributor from 14.2.40.91 changed an existing external link to this one, leaving the description "Official JKA Australia site" unchanged. The new link is to a website entitled "JKA Karate, Salisbury Dojo, South Australia" and includes information on two branches (Carisbrooke and Mawson Lakes) with "4 free introductory lessons" prominently displayed, whereas the original link is to a website entitled "Japan Karate Association (JKA) Australia Inc." and includes information on branches in four Australian states (New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, and Victoria). It seems clear that the new link is local rather than national in scope. Whether the new link is an official JKA website was not being questioned. While assuming good faith, it does not seem appropriate to change a link from a national-level website to a local-level website (particularly if leaving the original description unchanged), and might be seen as advertising even if perhaps not intended as such. Is JKA still a member of the JKF and the WKF?
[edit]From what I understand, the JKA had split from the JKF. Have they rejoined the JKF at some point? Also, would their membership with the JKF affect their membership with the WKF? If not, this article should be updated to reflect that. - Sentimex (talk) 06:31, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
