Hand picking Japanese beetles

Japanese beetles have a tendency to drop off the leaves if you approach them. I have a small bucket of water that I hold under the leaves where they are eating. As I put my hand over the leaves, they have a tendency to drop off, right into the bucket. I have captured over 10,000 beetles in a single year this way, but if you do so repeatedly, twice daily, the numbers go down each succeeding year. They will swim in the water for almost 24 hours before dying, so, to make the process more humane, I initially added a few drops of soap, which kills them within minutes. Then I found out that my chickens loved them, so I stopped adding soap to the water and simply fed them to my chickens. Free food! I hate Japanese beetles!! Just noting for a second time now that the edits were removed twice due to WP:NOTESSAY issues, especially for things like Japanese beetles belong to the Kingdom Animalia, Phylum Arthropoda, Class Insecta, Order Coleoptera, and Family Scarabaeidae. After the comments in sections below, this student should not have bee mass reinserting the content. Peer Edit

I thought the article was written well. It was very thorough and detailed in its information. I added some additional links to technical terms and geographical regions for convenience and consistency. I also made subsequent references to species names more consistent. I also added several subsection headings and changed the style of old subsection headings for better organization and breaking up of the information. I would suggest reordering the sections to better conform to topic order guidelines for beetles, but I did not want to go ahead and do it as this would heavily change the informational progression of the article, meaning that the writing would need to be changed too. Revisions

This article needs significant revisions. This does not meet the criteria for a wikipedia article and reads more like a persuasive essay as to why this beetle species is interesting. There are so many run-on and wordy sentences that much of the writing is difficult to follow. Much of the information is incredibly redundant and repeated in different sections just with different phrasing. There are many times when "research" vaguely is mentioned without any examples, supporting evidence, or citations. Peer review

This article is quite short and does not contain much information on the Japanese beetle outside of geographic distribution and methods of pest control. The lack of content on the page is likely due to another editor removing more than half of the document due to issues discussed previously on the talk page. The student involved in previously adding to the article should reuse the same academic sources but present the information in a neutral tone. I’m sure that the sources have valuable information that is appropriate for Wikipedia. I went ahead and added a source for the naming of the beetle and fixed some grammatical errors I found.
