Citations

[edit]

I was wondering how we can find citations for some of the information mentioned on this page. We used some of the articles listed on Hospitals in South Korea as a guide, but it seems this page is being criticised in a way that other, similar pages are not. Any advice? Can citations only come from printed books?Bhowsie (talk) 14:14, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You say "We used some of the articles..."' - who is "we"? What is your connection to Jaseng? --Orange Mike | Talk 16:20, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Citations need to be verifiable. --Orange Mike | Talk 14:30, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As OrangeMike says, they need to be verifiable, and from reliable sources. These can be websites, books, academic journals - there are plenty of reliable sources accepted on Wikipedia. However, I would suspect that many of them will be in Korean (which I can't read) - a google web search for 자생한방병원 returned about 60,000 hits, Google News returned about 565 hits, Google Books returned 9 hits and Google Scholar returned 176 hits. On the English version using "Jaseng Hospital of Oriental Medicine", there were 1230 Google Search hits, 13 Google News hits, 1 Google Book hit and 8 Google Scholar hits. I'm in the middle of mending my partner's computer, so I can't look at the English hits at the moment, but if this article survives SD, I will do so later tonight or tomorrow. -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 15:39, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I had a pause while virus checking, so I could start checking the English language hits: Google Books: checked, added to article as citation; Google News: checked, nothing suitable for use with article. I don't know enough about medicine to be able to use the Scholar hits. -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 16:43, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've added some content based on a translated page. To see how this works: here [1] is the original and here [2] is the translation. It's far from perfect and some words are not translated at all, but it's the best us ignorant westerners can do without learning to read Korean. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:09, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This source may be of some use on the establishment of the hospital. ≈ Chamal talk ¤ 10:23, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have also added this as a ref to the page. That, and this page, seem to indicate that Jaseng has won some sort of award at this "Korea Global Medical Supply Awards". If someone who knows Korean can check (since the english pages are not very clear) that could be added to the article. ≈ Chamal talk ¤ 10:54, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
