I will review this article. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 02:47, 5 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Initial comments/suggestions: G'day, nice work. I have the following observations/suggestions: AustralianRupert (talk) 03:33, 5 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • suggest that the lead could be expanded a little more with maybe another sentence summarising his early life prior to his presidency
@AustralianRupert: Done.
  • suggest removing the second level header called "Biography" as arguably the whole article is a "Biography". I would suggest replacing it with an "Early life" section (level 2 header), with the "Military" and "Later life" sections becoming level 2 headers instead of level 3
Done.
  • is there anything that could be said of the subject's parents or the family he was born into? Were they rich/poor, working class, etc.
Unfortunately, sources do not specify.
  • suggest adding a date, if known, about when he graduated secondary education, or when he commenced tertiary study
Sources do not specify
  • "the School of Naval Medicine": had he joined the military by this time? If so, perhaps clarify this, with potentially a date if known?
Sources do not specify.
  • "In 1982 Ouédraogo was appointed chief medical officer...": had he previously served in the military prior to this (relates to the point above)
Sources do not specify (welcome to Wikipedia's Africa department *sigh*).
  • "against [his] will": whose words are these? As they seem to be an opinion, I'd suggest attributing them in text
Revised as "due to his senior rank and, in his words, "against my will"."
Done.
  • in the References, suggest adding English translations for the Janin and Savonnet-Guyot works. The cite book template has the "|trans-title=" parameter which can assist with formatting this
Added trans titles
  • same as above for citations # 4 and 17
Done.
  • there appears to be a mixture of English variation (e.g. "pediatrics" (US) but "Defence" (British). Suggest making this consistent
Should be all British spellings now.
  • per MOS:LANG, suggest using {{lang}} fo non-English words or phrases, e.g. "École primaire catholique de Bam", "Lycée de Philippe-Zinda-Kaboré de Ouagadougou", "Conseil de Salut du Peuple" and "Fédération des associations professionnelles de la santé privée". Suggest also potentially adding a translation for these institutions if possible, which could be added in brackets beside the French term
Was confused by the lang thing, but I did write translations in footnotes for the French names, which is something I've done at two FAs
No worries, that works for me. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 00:09, 6 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Ouédraogo acted as a mediator between President Blaise Compaoré": suggest maybe clarifying that Compaoré had overthrown Sankara by that time
Added this background at the end of the "Military and political career" section.
Ah, good catch! I explained this and added new info I found in the new sources. -Indy beetle (talk) 22:23, 5 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Nice work, as always, Indy. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 00:09, 6 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Your changes look good, Indy. From what I can tell, the only minor issue remaining is the lack of images. There isn't an absolute requirement for an image, but before I finalise the review, I may have found a few here: [1]. Do you know if any of these might be useable, potentially even under a fair use claim? Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 00:09, 6 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@AustralianRupert: Unfortunately, it appears all of those are copyrighted (I previously checked, even the Burkina Faso archive photos are probably restricted). And fair use would be unlikely to pass, as per Template:Non-free biog-pic the subject would have to be either deceased or greatly inaccessible, neither of which is true (considering Ouédraogo manages a large clinic and actively mediates national political conflicts that appear in the press, he is not hypothetically difficult to access for people to take photos of him in Burkina Faso). So it seems we'll have to wait until a Wikipedian in West Africa snaps a freely licensed photo of him or when he kicks the bucket, whichever comes first, before we can add an image of him to the article. -Indy beetle (talk) 03:19, 6 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Too easy, let's hope for the first of those (the benevolent West African Wikipedian). Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 03:25, 6 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
