Sourcing and editorial and balance

[edit]

I've had to chop out bio material which was unsourced; editorial which has no place in an encyclopedia; and excessive and confusing detail on the legal battle. An extra sentence or two may be justified on that but not much more. Everything needs sourcing properly. See WP policies WP:V, WP:NPOV. And more detail on what he's done and been notable for, rather than this one episode (eg the chopped text mentioned Discovery Channel, without sourcing, but that should be easily available). As for un-sourced bio material (including his hosting of the original run of Stunt Junkies?) you could always find a source and add it to the text especially since you found it was "easily available", rather than just deleting any mention of it. Death

[edit]

This dude's dead. He like slammed into a bridge and was killed instantly. Papers all over the place had it. Why is it not reported? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.235.73.227 (talk) 01:11, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No he's not. That was a friend of his. See this Youtube video and you'll see Jeb talking about it. -- Suso (talk) 03:26, 14 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

XKCD

[edit]

seriously, why is the pop culture bit in? i know xkcd is an amazing comic, but is this important? --81.153.88.4 (talk) 21:48, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Jeb corliss is not dead. His friend Dwayne Weston died alongside Jeb while they were doing a proximity demonstration in colorado. It was Dwayne who hit the bridge and died on impact. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.235.151.8 (talk) 20:59, 25 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Details on Dwayne's death reported incorrectly

[edit]

In this article it's stated that he died instantly, yet if you follow the link to Dwayne's wikipedia page entry, it's stated that he severed a leg and died only when he landed at the bottom. Which one is correct? 154.119.51.184 (talk) 04:27, 10 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I think this is a matter of the reporting media not knowing exactly when he died, leading to speculation.
Looking at the sources, the "bled to death" wording in Dwain's article is only supported by the speak from the end of the "Dark n Grim" video, of which it is almost an exact transcript.
Where the "instant death" wording from Jeb's article is supported by both the xtremesport4u.com article and the video featuring Jeb himself from skydivingmovies.com (site defunct) and this other video which seems to be from the same interview of Jeb.
I've edited this article to include a less controversial paraphrasing which refrains from stating any details about when he died, but just that he struck the bridge which caused his death. Maybe this discrepancy in the sources should just be mentioned in Dawin's article to not state something which is potentially incorrect?
