Butler's Television is from a major academic publisher (Routledge) and the fact that it's gone to a 5th edition in such a competitive market over 25 years shows how widely used and respected the book is. It's listed in online syllabi from UCLA, John Cabot, Cal State Fullerton, USC, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, University of Kerala, Southern Illinois, and numerous others. According to a discussion on Professor Butler's Wikipedia talk page his middle name is Gaylord, in recognition of his great-grandfather of settlement movement fame Gaylord Starin White. I'm not sure that any of this can be established in a source Wikipedia considers reliable, (no offesne Professor Butler!) so per Wikipedia standards I've left it out, but note it here for posterity.
