Biography

Welcome to the Jesús Alejandro "El Niño" Official Website..

Jesús Alejandro is a multi-instrumentalist (Flute, Piano, Tres, Bass, Guitar) musician, arranger, composer, musical director and singer. Specialized in Salsa and Charanga, he also produces latin music from Merengue to Cumbia and typical Cuban music to Bachata. Jesús Alejandro has been mastering the excellent productions of world renown musicians such as Edwin Bonilla, Ricardo Lemvo & La Makina Loca, Charlie D’Cali’ and Johny Polanco to name a few.

Born and raised in Havana, Cuba, he developed at an early age a strong affinity for the music of his native Cuba. By the age of seven, Jesús Alejandro had started playing a variety of instruments. Among his favourites are the flute, guitar, piano and bass.

In 1973, Jesús Alejandro immigrated to the United States.

In 1978 in New Orleans, while working with musicians much his senior, they adopted him as El Nino (the kid). They immediately recognized his talent for the music and taught him to keep the wisdom and style he still practices to this day.

By 1980, In Los Angeles, the talented Fito Foster (la Palabra) and El Nino formed a group called Orquesta Versailles. The West Coast most prestigious clubs such as Club Riviera in Eagle Rock, The Marina Hotel in Las Vegas and the Club Candilajas in Los Angeles were packed with dancers and music lovers of all walks of the world.

Soon followed in 1981, his first recording contract, the release of Orquesta Versailles first 45” record under the label CBS (Currently Sony Music). On side A, features Jesús Alejandro’s arrangement named “Me Voy Pa’ Puerto Rico” and on side B was La Palabra’s arrangement named “Todo Se Derrumbo”.

In effort to help his very ill mother 'Theresa' Jesus moves back to New Orleans in 1983. During this time, he has the opportunity to meet with Hector Cuevas from Dominican Republic and developed a life time friendship. Since then, Jesus has worked with Hector's life achievement album, The Boston Latin Band's Cubarengue. .......

In 1998, Jesús Alejandro and Ricardo Lemvo & La Makina Loca had the pleasure to appear in the movie Dance With Me, starring Vanessa Williams and Chayanne.

In 2001, Jesus produced and released more than 30 songs for LMS Records, in collaboration with Mr Daniel Indart of Indart Music. These songs are part of a Latin Music catalogue for film and television series. Thereafter Jesus’ songs appeared in movie pictures and television series such as Hanava Nights, Taking Lives, Matchstick Men, Dance With Me, The Shield, 7th Heaven, C.S.I. Miami, The Handler to name a few. Born from this project was Jesus’ album named Cafecito Cubano.

Since then, Jesús Alejandro has proven his skills as a player and avid arranger/composer, working with well known artists in the latin venue, among them: Hansel & Raul, Roberto Torres, Edwin Bonilla, Oscar D’Leon, Ricardo Lemvo & Makina Loca, Willy Chirino, Gloria Estefan & Celia Cruz.

In 1997, Jesús Alejandro El Nino finds the beautiful city of Montreal in Canada where he decides to stay and make it his home. Since then, he has produced albums, composed, sang & played instruments for him-self and well known singers from around the world.
