New edits

[edit]

Hi there I’m planning on doing some editing on this article and wanted anyone involved to be aware. Right now I’m thinking about developing the personal life and media depictions section, removing repetitive information, and adding verifiable resources. I’m starting editing in my sandbox if you would like to look! I’m open to suggestions, comments, or feedback. Thanks! Cf105308 (talk) 22:03, 21 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Episode

[edit]

Would there be anything wrong with including the episode name for the Roseanne Show appearance on the page, even though it's only during the credits? Here it is on IMDB - [1]

hows abouta quote

[edit]
  • "Hey look Here,Im not All the way Crazy"
  • "...And I took the butcher knife & put it up to her neck I said If You wanna live to see tomarrow you better start frying them eggs a little bit better than what you are frying em,im tired of eating sloppy, slimey eggs" "{Dancing Outlaw,PBS)

Does anyone else have any more up-to-date info on Jesco? Would be interesting to see what else has become of him.

[edit]

There are youtube videos taken by close friends and family as recently as Christmas 07. He looks to be doing well...though his trailer burned down years back taking most of his Elvis collection. He's still in the Madison area, but Norma Jean is in Charleston —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cowrenn (talkcontribs) 06:27, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dead?

[edit]

There's a rumor that Jesco is dead. Page will have to be cleaned up, if so. Still looking for more information. (Sep 4, 2008 10:37 AM) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.121.252.4 (talk) 15:37, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The man who was killed is named Jessie White aged 66. Jesco is still alive Derek840378 (talk) 22:52, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just had drinks with Jesco and his girlfriend Beverly tonight in his apartment in Madison, WV - Nov 4, 2008 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.197.33.66 (talk) 04:43, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

removed refs

[edit]

all refs lead to dead links and archived pay subscription service making it unavailable to the genl population. Mjpresson (talk) 16:31, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I found 2 usable IMDb references, I know it's not the best but it's something at least to establish existence, if nothing else. Mjpresson (talk) 18:23, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Norma Jean White (1974–2009)????? She was NOT born in 1974 but earlier, in an interview she talks about breaking up with a boyfriend in 1972-73, so please fix this!!!

she'd only be in her 40s or so if she was born in the 70s! Y'all are waaaaay off!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nezahualcoyotl13 (talkcontribs) 15:50, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Major cleanup

[edit]

I have done a major cleanup and hunted down some sources. As per WP:BLP, I've erred on the side of removing a lot of unsourced material. If anyone feels like re-adding verifiable material, please by all means do so. - CompliantDrone (talk) 22:48, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Added some more information and additional sources. I was looking for sources that Jesco and his dad were well acquainted with Hank Williams and a bit more about the song named after D. Ray, but ran out of time. Will look into it another time. Minor4th 04:38, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good!Mjpresson (talk) 04:42, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Re: the statement under Dancing Outlaw II: Jesco Goes to Hollywood that describes the tattoo incident which cites "scenes from the film"...that same film also has a scene in which Jesco describes how the Arnolds explained to him who Hitler was, ect. and he appeared quite shocked to find out about the holocaust and seemed genuinely disturbed when he talked about it and condemned it strongly. Shouldn't that be mentioned also? Mjpresson (talk) 04:53, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, Jesco sports a recently inked in backpatch with Charlie Manson next to Elvis... I think it is ridiculous to portray him as a child-like hick. However, it could also be argued that the "swastika" on his hand was a rune or something: Jesco referred to it specifically as a "Germanic symbol". The faint chicken-scratch definitely wasn't an Aryan Brotherhood style swastika, and the condescending tone and feigned horror by Barr and Arnold probably contributed to most of the filmed material being omitted from the episode. This is all original research though, so someone would have to track down an article or interview discussing the matter before it could be used. I'm just going to "hide" the sentence in the entry, to err on the side of WP:BLP. Here's the Diff - CompliantDrone (talk) 18:42, 22 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

NOTABLE?????

[edit]

Can anyone tell me why this man is notable??? He is notable due to his dancing ability which his father was also notable for. My only recoallection of him is either he is in jail or sings about fighting and fucking..ALOT. While fighting and fucking are great skills to have, hardly interchageable, unless that gets you going, and thats fine, BUT, perpetuating, Ma and Pa Kettle on meth, not funny, not notable.Coal town guy (talk) 14:10, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

He's definitely notable. Movies have been made about him. If he's the perpetuation of a myth, that should be mentioned in the article. Bms4880 (talk) 15:58, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No, I wont do that. Facts are facts. It is most distressing that fame can be acquired in such a manner and of course be the Gold Standard of a Notable person on a county page within an Encyclopedia.......Carry on, nothing hereCoal town guy (talk) 16:06, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
In Wikipedia, WP:Notability of a person doesn't equate to personal merit, good moral character, respectability, or accomplishments, nor anything else suggestive of a "gold standard". Rather, it is determined primarily by the existence of substantial third-party published coverage and secondarily by other factors outlined at WP:BIO. Regardless of whether you and I like the situation, this guy seems to be notable by Wikipedia standards. Moreover, the article consistently gets more than 400 hits per day, which strongly indicates that a lot of people consider the topic to be notable. --Orlady (talk) 21:19, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
