Jessica Phillips (cyclist)Jessica PhillipsJessica Phillips already redirects to Jessica Phillips (cyclist) and is the sole subject of a Wikipedia article bearing this exact name. There is a currently active Talk:Jess Phillips (politician)#Requested move 14 May 2018, but the subject of that article, whose birth name is "Jessica", is known to the public not as "Jessica", but as "Jess".     Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 21:27, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose and redirect Jessica Phillips to Jess Phillips. "Jess" is commonly known as short for "Jessica" and so the association is clear. The cyclist is an obscure stub. Timrollpickering 08:34, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • I recently boldly changed the redirect, not noticing the politician was named Jessica and not expecting opposition. In light of the above, I have no objection to anyone reverting my edit pending outcome of this discussion. In the meantime I'll add a hatnote to the cyclist's article. I would like to point out that the Jessica Phillips redirect has been getting less than one hit per day. Station1 (talk) 00:31, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. Regarding the above observation that "Jess" is commonly known as short for "Jessica", it should be noted that of the 42 names listed at Wikipedia's entry for Jess#Given name, 38 are men and additional ones, such as 1940s film leading man Jess Barker, are missing from the list. The fact remains that the politician is rarely, if ever, referenced as "Jessica Phillips" and the cyclist's article is the only Wikipedia entry to bear that exact name. A hatnote atop the Jessica Phillips entry would, of course, resolve any uncertainties by guiding users to the Jess Phillips disambiguation page.    Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 14:07, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose the move, leave redirect to dab page Jess Phillips. Despite not being universally known as "Jessica", the politician is an order of magnitude more notable than the cyclist. Further, actress Jessica Phillips [1], now redlinked at Leap of Faith (musical) might perhaps deserve a honorary mention at the dab page. No such user (talk) 13:40, 18 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
