Merged from 4 articles[edit]

I have merged Chapteh, Podopterisi, Dacau and Featherball into this article. Right now, each (except Dacau, just a name) has its own first-level section, and they need to be combined. Although I have removed much duplication, there is still a lot of overlap. A hero needs to step forward and reshape this article. Good luck! It's OK with me if you leave out that stuff about this being better for your kidneys than any other sport. Chris the speller 17:05, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I've had a go, but the deeper in I get, the more there is to do. There are so many variants of this ancient game, plus a lot of coverage of the 'footbag' popular in the US.
Notes to self or next editor:
  • (1) see here.
  • (2) check whether 'kinja' is significant, or perhaps planted here for commercial gain.
  • (3) Sort out the earliest date. Currently we show 5th century BC and (conflictingly) Han Dynasty.

Other topics[edit]

This article is all about the organized competitive sports, but I think jianzi is usually played by children more like freestyle footbag. And what about the jianzi itself? Sometimes it is made with feathers. In China, children make it with plastic twine and washers or coins. This article is so large and complicated that I don't dare to edit it, and I don't know if these things are mentioned somewhere in the article already. Kicknet 20:31, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Embedded advert?[edit]

The bulk of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jianzi#Formal_game reads like an advert for the JJJ variant. I doubt it warrants mentioning at all? -- Ralph Corderoy (talk) 07:50, 30 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
