Mix up[edit]

Presently we have this article, and we have Damia Bridge: both about the same structure. The co-ords given in *this* article, is however for the Jordanian village/town; Damiye.

This needs to be cleaned up: I suggest one article for the bridge, and one for the village/town. Huldra (talk) 20:56, 28 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

And I unmerged it, because according to Wikidata, one of the items is for the village and one is for the town. Merging the two articles isn't going to fix the confusion. In fact, it will make it even harder to distinguish. So, rewrite what needs rewritten. But certainly don't merge.

Spelling of the title (ed-Damiye) and redirect[edit]

The common English spelling for the Arabic article is with a dash between it and the noun, so Jisr ed-Damiye. The title should be amended accordingly. At the very least, there should be a redirect for Jisr ed-Damiye. Arminden (talk) 02:27, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Move to English name[edit]

Jisr ed-Damiye is strictly Arabic, means nothing to the English-speaking user, unless they read WWI war reports, where the army went by PEF maps based on local names. The press and some books have used Damiyah Bridge or similar spellings, and that's how it became known when it actually was internationally known (Mandate, Arab-Israeli wars, Intifadas). Too much wokeness kills the usefullness of the encyclopedia. Hi Onceinawhile, I see you were quite active on this page. Maybe you can drum up some more colleagues and see what comes out.
