Jocelin Winthrop Young
[edit]I'm afraid you've got the date of his death wrong. It is the 8th of February 2012.
You write: He was Headmaster of Schule Schloss Salem. He was "Internatsleiter" that is "Head of Boarding" or in Britain perhaps "Second Headmaster". At that time, Salem consisted of 4 campuses(today there are 3 Campuses) i.e. JWY was Head of the Salem campus.
You write: 'On 5 June 1966, Kurt Hahn’s 80th birthday was celebrated at Schule Schloss Salem, and as the headmaster (see above) of the school Winthrop Young invited.... JWY had long planned to have the other Headmasters invited to this special occasion, during the Kurt Hahn 80th birthday celebrations, so he drafted a letter of invitation that he gave to Prince Max of Baden (the owner of the Salem castle complex and member of the Board of Salem)....asking him to invite these Heads etc.'''
You write: During this time King Paul of Greece and Queen Frederica contacted Kurt Hahn and expressed their desire that he set up a school in Greece. No that a school be set up.
You write: 'The Hahn Schools' was dropped in favour of a new name 'The Round Square' after an iconic building at Gordounstoun. Correctly "Gordonstoun"
You write: Winthrop Young retired as headmaster of Salem in 1974. He continued to work for Salem until 1985. (as honorary member of the Board of the Heads of Salem as Warden, as Head of Security and as coordinator of the Emergency Services. ToGermany1964 (talk) 21:45, 18 September 2022 (UTC)
