This article is factually inaccurate. Joe Perry played football for the Alameda Naval Air Station in Alameda, California in 1947. The name of the team was The Alameda Hellcats. He then played for the San Francisco 49ers in 1948 after being honorably discharged from the Navy.Kantspelwrite (talk) 18:32, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Report[edit]

After Y. A. Tittle, this is another very good article. As Joe Perry was one of the early black stars in pro football, it didn't surprise me to read that he was confronted by racism and it is good that he was able to overcome the stupid attitudes of certain people and achieve success.

Just one problem with the article. We will need a citation in the "Other ventures and later life" to support the statement by John York. This needs to be placed after the colon introducing the statement. With that in place, I will be able to pass the article. Very well done. Jack | talk page 19:24, 25 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@BlackJack: Cited. Hadn't even noticed you reviewed it. I had actually hoped you'd save this one for last, as there was some things I wasn't too confident about. Such as the funky opening sentence and my overloading on obituaries (since obituaries tend to soften reality). But eh, easy fixes for later. Thanks for the review. The wording is fine and the obits are reliable sources so no problems. Thanks for doing the citation. This passes now and I'll look at McElhenny next. Well done. Jack | talk page 12:00, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
