Spelling of name[edit]

There seems to be some confusion as to whether the name should be Holmskiold or Holmskjold. As the article began with Holmskiold, and the Danish WP article also had this spelling, I have edited the name as Holmskiold throughout, only to discover that the article itself is headed Holmskjold! As I am not really sure which spelling is correct, I will leave it to someone else to handle any further corrections, moves, etc. I note for the time being that in any case there is a redirect on Johan Theodor Holmskiold. - Ipigott (talk) 11:32, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Seems to be a hard one to solve as no one replied in more than three years. Was born Holm, while "Holmskiold" appeared on his book (Fungis Danicis) and is the spelling used for the Holmskioldia genus named after him. However it seems that "Holmskjold" is the most frequently used in reliable sources (Dansk biografisk Lexikon, Danmarks Naturfredningsforening, International Plant Name Index, Harvard University Herbaria, DeCesare et al 2008). --ELEKHHT 01:49, 24 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dates of birth and death[edit]

What is the source for "14 June 1731 – 15 September 1793"? All I could find about his life dates is this PDF from Barnhart's "Biographical Notes Upon Botanists", which states "14 June 1732 - 14 September 1794". --Convallaria majalis (talk) 09:29, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Danish Biographical Dictionary (both 1st ed. and 2nd ed.) says 1793. Holger Ehrencron-Müller Forfatterlexikon omfattende Danmark, Norge og Island indtil 1814 says 1793 as well. --Saddhiyama (talk) 20:18, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! I guess I should've searched more carefully --Convallaria majalis (talk) 12:31, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
