Epitaph

[edit]

I am somewhat skeptical about the truth of the assertion that Margaret of Austria actually composed the epitaph shown in the epitaph shown in the Marriage section. First, she was never actually married to Charles VIII. Second, it seems rather unlikely that she would have written her epitaph in English. Can anyone verify that this is actually in the source provided? Tad Lincoln (talk) 08:21, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

She was married to Charles VIII by proxy, I assume. I also think it is safe to assume that the article cites a translation of the epitaph into English. Yes, it is in the source provided: see this. This book provides the same translation, as well as the original in French:
Ci gist Margot la gentille demoiselle
Mariée deux fois, et si mourut pucelle
