WP:COMMONNAME applies to the title of this article, which is "John-Nhan Tran" based on a consensus of English-language sources. This is how Tran is named in the press and in typical Church-related reporting. Since that is his common name, it stands to reason that we do not derogate from it inside the article. The article title should match the name we use to refer to Tran throughout enwiki, especially his own article. There is no reason other than some misplaced Vietnamese nativism or triumphalism that diacritics and an extended native name should be used, other than as an example or a one-time mention as full name/birth name as appropriate. Just got an email back from Bishop-elect Tran. In English his name is John Nhan Van Tran. In Vietnamese it is Tran Van Nhan. I'll change the name of the article to John Nhan Van Tran.

Regardless of the sourcing of this, which I believe violates WP:RS, it's generally inconsequential. The reporting of the bishop-elect has set a clear consensus as to how English-speakers refer to him WP:COMMONNAME. If you'd really like to add his English-equivalent middle name to the article, find it in a reliable source, or wait until it's mentioned by one.
